Two reasons actually… 

 

The First Reason:

When Elizabeth was a little girl, her favorite toy was a much-loved pig plush named Piggy. She absolutely adored Piggy and carried him everywhere! One day, a stranger walked up to Vell and declared that she was doing two things wrong: first, that little girls should be playing with dolls, not pigs; and second, that little girls should be wearing pink, not blue. Appalling, right? You’ll see in one of our books that our boy cat, Phantom, loves pink. The pink pig has become a symbol of people embracing those special facets of their personalities that make them unique. 

 

The Second Reason:

After a long discussion over what our publishing company's name should be, we took a break and tried our chances at the nearby claw machine—where we hadn’t had much luck in the past. We actually won that day, and out came the most beautiful pink pig plush toy. We took it as a sign. And, thus, the pink pig was born! Plus – who doesn’t love alliteration?
